Southern Technical College Students Honored by International Public Speaking Association

Sanford, FL – (Nov. 19, 2015) – As part of their professional development, three students from the Sanford campus of Southern Technical College, “Southern Tech,” received honors at a local meeting of Toastmasters International.

Eddie Luster, center, a Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) student and U.S. military veteran, pictured with, from left, Business Office Specialist (BOS) students Cynthia “CJ” Stanley and Kerri Holmes, won Top Table Topic honors for speaking eloquently about entrepreneurship.

“We’re proud of our students for providing their insights and life experiences to valuable groups like Toastmasters,” said Nikki Reynolds, communications instructor, Southern Tech-Sanford. “This is just one example of how Southern Tech provides real-world experience and hands-on learning for our career college students – it’s part of the foundation for their future successes.”

Since its founding in 1924, Toastmasters International has helped more than four million men and women become more confident in their speaking and leadership skills. The organization’s membership exceeds 332,000 in more than 15,400 clubs in 135 countries.

Seminole Toasters (seminoletoasters.toastmastersclubs.org) meets weekly at the Seminole County Services Building in Sanford.
