Orlando, FL – (Feb. 10, 2016) – As part of their enrichment activities outside of the classroom, a group of students from the Orlando campus of Southern Technical College, “Southern Tech,” HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning) students attended the 2016 Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition (AHR Expo) held in late January at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
Pictured left to right are: students Nelson Pagan-Albino and Ahmed El- Marahi, author Eugene Silberstein, HVAC instructor Paul Allen, students Joseph Adams, Neucurth V. Harrison, Antonio Garcia and Vanley Ludvig, and Randy Petit, Sr., vice president of HVAC excellence.
Comparing the experience to the mega show Comic Con, Allen said the outside exposure was a way to get hands-on exposure to the profession. “We were fortunate to meet Mr. Silverstein, author of the book ‘Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology,’ which is used at Southern Technical College in the HVAC program,” he said. “The students were excited to meet the author of the theory that is taught in the textbook.”
Southern Tech HVAC students are given opportunities to use their skills in the real world and to learn more about the profession as part of their career college training.
Southern Tech-Orlando is located at 1485 Florida Mall Ave.
