Southern Technical College Pays Tribute to Fallen Soldiers as Part of Memorial Day Ceremony

Orlando, Fla. – (May 31, 2016) – As part of efforts to honor military veterans and fallen soldiers, the Orlando campus of Southern Technical College, “Southern Tech,” recently dedicated a memorial plaque in a pre-Memorial Day commemoration.

Led by electrical instructor Jeffrey Goodine, the “Tribute for the Veterans: A Day of Remembrance” ceremony took place just outside of the campus located at 1485 Florida Mall Ave. in Orlando.

Among the special guests included electrical student and retired U.S. Army veteran Frank Mendoza who spoke to those gathered about military pride and the preservation of American freedoms.

Mendoza, front, with Goodine and campus director Martin Levert were among the presenters.

“This Memorial Day, we wanted to pause to thank those who have given so much to our country,” Levert, above, said. “We are fortunate to have the opportunity to help those former service men and women get career training to help with the next chapter in their careers.”

At the event’s conclusion, Goodine, left, presented Mendoza with the ceremony plaque that will be displayed on the grounds of the campus (below).
