Ability to Benefit

An Alternative Path to College.

Southern Technical College offers an alternative path to college. If you are one of the thousands of those in Florida who are looking for higher education, but don’t have a GED or high school diploma, Southern Technical College may have a program for you!

Programs you may be admitted to under an Ability-to-Benefit determination:

Diploma Programs

Associate’s Degree Program

Participating campuses include: Auburndale, Brandon, Ft Myers, Mt Dora, Orlando, Port Charlotte and Sanford.

Our Ability to Benefit (ATB) program allows you to take classes and earn your GED. Applicants of the ATB program will be evaluated before entry. Qualified students will be enrolled in GED prep courses taken along with their scheduled course training. Attendance is mandatory in the GED prep courses and in course training classes. Students will be required to attend weekly advising sessions with our staff. After the first six months, students will be required to attempt the GED test.
